# Midea

Midea air conditioners and heat pumps work with the `over_climate` type. The same installation applies to the brands built by Midea, like Airwell.

## Requirements

Install a local Midea integration from HACS: **Midea AC LAN** (`midea_ac_lan`) or **Midea Smart AC** (`midea-ac-py`). Both control the unit directly on the local network.

## Limitations

1. The minimum setpoint of the unit is often 17 °C. Check the `min_temp` of the underlying entity before choosing your presets.
2. Right after an auto-start, some units turn off on their own: check the state of the unit when you use auto-start/stop.

## Airwell

Airwell air conditioners use the same Midea AC LAN integration. If two _VTherm_ commands are too close together, the air conditioner stops itself. For this reason, Airwell devices are partially compatible.

## Compatibility status

- **Supported**: This device is used directly by the Versatile Thermostat maintainer or a contributor, or has been extensively tested. Devices: Midea
- **Partial**: This device is supported by Versatile Thermostat, but some advanced features may not be supported. Devices: Airwell (Midea AC LAN)

## VTherm configuration

### Initialization

Go to your settings, then integrations, then click on add a new integration. Search for Versatile Thermostat.

Click on Thermostat over another thermostat.

### Basic attributes

Go to the "Main attributes" section.

1. Choose a name for your thermostat
2. Set the temperature sensor for your room
3. If you are using the Zigbee protocol and you have a "last_seen" entity for your temperature sensor, fill it in.

You can validate and return to the configuration menu.

### Underlying entities

Go to the underlying entities section.

1. Add the thermostats that will be controlled

You can validate and return to the configuration menu.
